How can you recognise adult dyslexia?

Many indicators of dyslexia will remain the same throughout the dyslexic person's lifetime, for example, experiencing problems with sequences and processing information at speed. But there are certain 'telltale' signs to look out for at different ages.

An adult may:

  • read slowly and have to re-read several times before understanding.
  • miss out lines and confuse words that are similar.
  • make spelling mistakes.
  • dread giving and receiving complicated instructions.
  • have problems with personal organisation.

" After many years wondering 'what's wrong with me?' being told I'm dyslexic means that I am not stupid but an intelligent person who just learns in a different way." Lisa Marie, after being diagnosed as dyslexic
