More than just books, a wide range of services

The Library Service provided by Cumbria County Council provides a wide range of services. It does a lot more than just lend out books. Go to their website to have a look at what is available. http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/libraries/default.asp

And if you aren't a member it is possible to join online. http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/libraries/services/membserv.asp

Talking Books

One of the resources available is talking books. A valuable alternative to paper based resources that can make difficult to read resources available to all. They can be listened to in the car or on the bus, as well as at home, and can be used in conjunction with the paper based book as a learning aide. Contact the library to find out what is available, or if you are a member you can also use the online search facility when you have set-up an account. Cheap or free loans may be available for registered disabled or young people, please check.

Access For All: Reading Machines

On the library pages Access For All, there are additional facilities mentioned.
DO YOU HAVE DIFFICULTY READING PRINT?:  Carlisle, Whitehaven and Brampton Libraries have reading machines. All libraries in Cumbria have books in large print and on cassette, and titles are also available on CD.
There are also additional IT based resources available, such as big key keyboards
