Extraordinary General Meeting
All members were urged to attend an EGM of the WCDA in Whitehaven on Wednesday 25th May 2011. This was in response to the proposed education cuts and how it will impact on the workload of the WCDA.

Special Meeting
Education Cuts in Cumbria
A special meeting of the WCDA was held on the 17th March 2011, at which representatives of Children's Services and Cumbria County Council outlined their proposed changes to education provision. Many people attended, representing parents, local voluntary organisations and education professionals.

The WCDA has added an additional Children's support phone line 07704 326452, in response
to the increasing numbers of enquiries. Please also note that additional
Committee Members are always welcome.
The Chair of the WCDA published her report into activities during 2010, at the AGM 2nd November 2010. It outlines activities in a very busy year, with continuing increases in number and variety of contacts.

Dyslexia Assessments. The
WCDA have access to a specialist teacher and assessor who is M.ED and
A.M.B.D.A. qualified.
They can offer a screening assessment for Dyslexia, assessment for access arrangements
for examinations and assessment for Disabled Students Allowance. For further

Authority has closed state provision in Cumbria.
